Clinical Pilates

Pilates is a unique whole body conditioning programme, which is founded on movement.

Pilates lengthens and stretches all the major muscle groups in the body – improving flexibility, strength, balance and body awareness. Pilates is ideal for injury prevention and rehabilitation and for enhancing performance.

There are two main forms of Pilates:

  • Mat Pilates – a series of exercises performed on the floor using gravity and your own body weight to provide resistance.
  • Reformer Pilates – a series of exercises performed on the ‘reformer’, a moveable carriage that you push and pull along its tracks.

At Align Health, we offer one-on-one, Mat Pilates and Reformer Pilates sessions with experienced Physiotherapists who are also trained Pilates instructors.

Your Pilates session will be tailored to suit you individually. Exercises are regularly re-evaluated to ensure they are appropriate for you. With this individual attention to your needs, our Pilates sessions are suitable for everybody – from elite athletes to clients with more limited mobility or lower base fitness levels.

Pilates is ideal for enhancing recovery and performance in a range of conditions including:

  • Back pain
  • Joint pain from injury or arthritis – including knee, hip or shoulder pain
